Property Details
General Description |
DetailsLadeira da Nora is an impressive 6 bedroom villa set in the glorious grounds of a private estate, with comfortable living accommodation. Ideal for large parties, the villa has an impressive array of entertainment facilities including a separate TV lounge, table tennis table and a 5-a-side football pitch. Ladeira da Nora is close to the coast, and is surrounded by other properties dotted along the countryside, but is not in a built-up area. The villa is approached by a long private driveway with fragrant orange trees on either side.
The ground floor is spacious and airy. A carved Peruvian double front door leads into the tiled entrance hall with guest cloakroom. The brick quadrangle vaulted roof is in the style of a cellar of a typical house in the Alentejo. The living/dining area is bright and airy, with terracotta tiles underfoot, and an unusual hooded fireplace with wood burner separating the living from dining areas. Two sofas are grouped around the antique wrought iron waterwheel coffee table. The dining area has a large refectory table and chairs to seat ten or more, leading to a shady patio with bamboo roof. The kitchen is decorated with traditional antique tiles in a country style and has a small breakfast dining area and pantry. The kitchen comes fully equipped with double hob, twin oven, fridge, fridge/freezer, microwave, and the all important dishwasher!
Up the first flight of stairs is the TV room with DVD/CD player and beautiful view over the pool. A stone staircase leads to two bedrooms, one twin and one double, each with their own ensuite bathroom and the latter with a private balcony with views to the river. On the top landing is the master double bedroom with antique furnishings. Double doors lead onto a large balcony with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The ensuite bathroom has sunken bath and rain shower, individual handbasins and mirrors and a decorative sundial depicting the Inca`s visits to Machu Picchu. OutsideThe large swimming pool of Ladeira da Nora is kidney shaped with Roman steps at the shallow end sloping to 2.25m at the deep end. It is surrounded by a wide terrace, then by large green lawns, providing a private yet spacious place for those wishing to spend their holiday basking in the warm Algarvean sunshine. By the poolside, is a covered dining area with a poolside barbecue ideal for taking advantage of those warm Portuguese evenings and eating outdoors. The impressive grounds of the villa are laid to lawn with mature plants carefully cultivated. The owner has recently installed a 5-a-side football pitch, to the delight of many a keen player, and there is also a table tennis table located under one of the covered terraces.

Location
Ladeira da Nora is located just 1.6km from the pretty coastal village of Alvor, with its bars, restaurants and fine white sandy beach. This quaint old coastal port on the mouth of the Ria de Alvor is close to the market town of Portimao (7km) and about 20km east of Lagos. The village has stunning views across the harbour to the Atlantic Ocean and a natural lagoon which is a haven for wildlife. Alvor itself is an interesting mixture of the old and new. Once a small fishing village with narrow streets and white-washed cubic houses, it has now become a popular holiday resort for all ages. The village hosts many interesting craft shops, boutiques, bars and excellent restaurants providing the visitor with a wide and select choice. You can take a quiet evening stroll to the nearby restaurant, just 300m from the villa, or if you prefer to eat in, the closest supermarket is only 1km away – a quick drive.
